Hi and happy Sunday!
As promised on Wednesday, here’s my take on Calvin Klein’s return to the runway, thanks to designer Veronica Leoni. Their first collection since 2018, the debut back on the runway was full of classic 90s CK minimalism - in both good and challenging ways. You can view the looks here, but what reigned supreme were the boxy shoulders, monochrome suits, and voluminous outerwear. While the tailoring was impeccable and there were a handful of outfits that were uniquely exciting (and set off more than a few rounds of vigorous eBaying), I found some of it almost costume-y in its minimalism, with too extreme of shapes to be truly wearable.
But! The looks I enjoyed were ones I knew I could recreate with vintage and hit all my favorite notes, as you’ll see.
Happy CK-but-less shopping!
Look One

Surprise surprise the sheer sequin skirt spoke to me. I love a sheer bottom and the fact that the skirt I found has built-in underwear is icing on the transparent cake. The shoes I found are a shade too green, but I think the cooling effect is still there.
Look Two

A fully crossed blazer is a tough thing to cut so impeccably and I loved the sharp simplicity of this suit so much I recreated it twice!
Look Three

This kind of layering is so simple to DIY but that middle (silk?) crinkled layer really does add dimension, so I was delighted to find one of the other Big Three provided a similar textile.
Look Four

Pricier than I usually share, but if you want to wear the original version of the runway adaptation, this vintage grey silk Calvin suit is pretty unbeatable.
Thanks so much as always for being here. Wednesday you’ll get another Sample Platter and sometime during the week you’ll also get a guest edit from the best
