Hi and happy Friday!
What a week it’s been! I’m about five days from hearing some VERY big news that I can’t wait to share with you, but nothing has been signed, sealed, delivered, so this frustratingly cryptic missive only serves to whet your appetites until next week. I just need you to know that exciting things are happening over here!
But back to the newsletter: Building off last week, we have another round of Bode delights awaiting your eyeballs and there are indeed so many delights to behold. First, I recreate two Bode FW24 looks in triplicate (aka two ‘Vintage Copycats’), then I’ve styled four other outfits that are inspired by Bode, and finally a three-part ‘one-two punch’ of palazzo pant looks.
While sourcing for the last two newsletters, I’ve found an abundance of pieces that fit the Bode vibe, but I wanted to do a temp check and see if three weeks of Bode is just one week too many? I’ve found some knit hot pants, some printed sets, more wide leg pants, more novelty tops, etc. If I published a third Bode week, it would be in the form of a ‘Things I Like’ like last week’s, so let me know…
There are no wrong answers! Because regardless, I’ll be debuting a new style interview series with stylish/cool/interesting/vintage people, so good things await no matter our path. In the meantime…happy shopping!
*don’t forget items marked with an asterisk mean I received a discount after adding it to my liked items*
1. Tennis sweater, $32 + Brick striped pants, $46 + Nike sneakers, $94
2. Football novelty sweater, $32 + Green satin stripe pants, $40 (also in navy) + New Balance sneakers, $75
3. Basketball novelty half zip, $35 + Navy & white striped pants, $64
These kinds of novelty knits in the vintage world are usually in the form of cowichan sweaters, which are much bulkier than the sweater pictured (except this one has a good shrunken fit) and are slightly out of the usual price range of this newsletter. In their stead, I found some sporty novelty knits to pair with their striped pant counterparts. The good news about this outfit is that you probably already own black running shoes, so you’re a third of the way there!
Beaded strip tank, $10 (another great one here) + Gold crewneck cardigan, $25 + Black & gold speckle micropleat pants, $58
Jeweled angora tank, $28 + Gold ribbed cardigan, $45 + Black & gold speckle pants, $12
Gold sequin tank, $52 + White beaded net tank, $40 + Moschino gold cardigan, $55 + Black & gold floral pants, $70
I am absolutely tooting my own horn when I say I sold a set in this black & gold speckle print a couple of years ago - to one of our readers, in fact - and I definitely beamed at the idea that Emily was inspired by something I, too, love. Anyhow! The whole point of this look is mixed golds, so I’ve provided the same, in varying textiles. In the last version, I’ve done some tank layering for extra tactility and if you want to add some custom patches to any of these cardigans, look no further than “vintage patches” on eBay and you will find thousands from any genre you’d like.
