Happy Friday fellow vintage freaks,
Welcome to all the newcomers! I don’t know how you found me but I’m ever-so glad you did! For those who missed them, here’s a little recap of all the holiday newsletters that have gone out recently: LBDs, holiday cocktail dresses, and sets & gowns. Some of those are behind paywalls so if you want to upgrade to become a paid subscriber:
Also, I’ll just throw this out there: if you’re in a pinch and live in NYC, my vintage holiday collection still has some winners that are easily available for pick-up and you can shop it all here! I’m just sayin…there’s a marabou-trimmed dress, a sequin jaguar tshirt, and a slouchy tux all waitin for you.
But let’s live in the here and now and peruse other party pieces I’ve found for you today! I’ve sourced so many dresses already, so below is a list of a whopping 37 separates, coats, jewels, and accessories for finishing off your holiday looks with panache.
Happy shopping!
1. Rainbow sequin top, $50. I mean, had to start with this because wowza. Like Attico or Ashish but a coooool $50.
2. Black sheer marabou-trimmed duster, $28. I love this for its layering possibilities: over a cocktail dress, or just some jeans and a tank, or with just a bra and tucked under a bodycon skirt?!
3. Gold leather miniskirt, $60. Needs no exposition.
4. Gold & pearl drop earrings, $46. You know I love a matte gold, and pearls are timeless.
5. Black & brown sequin opera coat, $36. The DrAmA! So chic!
6. Red flower power heel, $50. These kinds of heels are divisive but I’m never not dazzled by them. They need a simple outfit for them to really shine. Like a dress that matches your skin tone, big earrings (like #37), and these.
7. Beaded cream & jewel bustier, $61. I mean! This is exquisite! The detailing on this piece if it were made now? Over $1k easy - couture pricing. But this is vintage! And affordable!
8. Black fringed underwear, $88. Hey-yo this is one of mine and deserves a third and fourth (and fifth look). This is fringed underwear, people! Probably part of a costume and now waiting to be part of your closet. I personally would wear it with just a blazer and super sheer black tights, but this could also be a v cool layer over a skirt or pants as the undies are high-waisted.
9. Cream & black grid sequin shell, $50. These kinds of shells from the 50s and 60s are common, but I love the stark modernity of this b&w grid print version.
10. Mesh snake necklace/belt, $59. Loop it multiple times to wear as a choker, loop it once and let the tail dangle, or wrap it round your waist!
11. Fur collar, $18. Great way to spruce up an old coat or sweater.
12. Tory Burch black sequin pants, $88. Shimmery and honestly wouldn’t just wear it for partytimes. I would wear these on, like, a Tuesday with a black sweater tunic.
13. Cream fringe jacket, $34. For shimmying.
14. Pearlescent sequin flares, $75. Another sequin pant option in case you wanted something more unexpected.
15. Black lace strappy heels, $25. Great ankle strap, great toe cleavage, and great heel height. Can dance for hours in these!
16. Gold brutalist earrings, $58. Would wear in an outfit with #33.
17. Red plunge Halston sequin cardigan, $95. No bra, no tank! Wear it loose over #21!
18. Black rhinestone drop earrings, $45. *BE* the disco ball.
19. Sheer-top tank, $30. I love how the flowers just barely - or might not? - cover your nips.
20. Gold sequin boots, $175. More pricey than I usually share but when is a more appropriate time to spotlight gold sequin boots?
21. Silver lamé skirt, $10. I have this exact skirt in gold and let me tell you. It’s worth its weight in silver (and gold).
22. Black satin wrap coat, $100. I so desperately want a black or red satin jacket for swanning about town. This is a classic and would be just as good over a black turtleneck and cropped flares as it would #36 & #24 (imagine the reveal!).
23. Koch pastel sequin top, $52. If black & gold aren’t your thing, here’s a pretty pastel sequin option.
24. Black & gold sequin hot pants, $56. Pair with black sheer tights and the gold sequin boots!
25. Rainbow rhinestone earrings, $20. So, so tempted to just buy these myself.
26. Classic rhinestone earrings, $34. In case the rainbow rhinestone earrings were a little too much.
27. Sequin mask, $15. Is your NYE a masquerade? Do you just want a reason to wear more sequins?
28. Black fringe top, $60. More shimmying!
29. Sequin plaid bomber, $72. A great juxtaposition: a sporty piece rendered totally glam.
30. Black velvet rhinestone bustier, $50. Understated and chic.
31. Black velvet rhinestone & pearl bustier, $75. Overstated and fun!
32. Green triangle rhinestone earrings, $48. These really make the jewelry term “doorknockers” ring true.
33. Black & gold sheer pleated palazzos, $64. Always gonna share sheer palazzos!
34. Black rhinestone fringe earrings, $23. Soooo OTT and I love them. Imagine these with just a tucked black tee and black acid wash jeans.
35. Glass ball drop earrings, $45. Deeply weird in the best way. Wear with #36.
36. Gold lamé tank, $39. Love the faux wrap design.
37. Long gold modernist earrings, $65. Modern and organic in design. Would love this with just a big white oxford, a low bun, and black cropped flares.
Some quick housekeeping: this will be the last free newsletter until Dec 30. I’ll have one more paid newsletter going out this Tuesday and then I’m taking a week off for the holidays. But never fear! There are months of newsletters in the archive to peruse and don’t forget to follow me on Instagram!
A very happy holidays and thanks as always for being here! xx Maggie
That opera coat!
What I learned from todays round up- cream jackets are for shimmying. And I freakin love it!!!!
