Hi and happy Sunday!
Remember how I got tea length skirts stuck in my craw this spring? I have a sneaking suspicion that thin, collared knits are going to disturb my peace this fall. Aside from the light weight - usually in some sumptuous fabric like cashmere - I think it’s the juxtaposition of a historically ‘nerdy’ piece of clothing that has had a modern glow-up. It’s its own She’s All That and all we needed to do was actually use our eyeballs to see the nerd was actually beautiful all along and we were just brainwashed into believing some messed up ideas about women. And sweaters.
These knits can be henley-style, short sleeve, cropped, ribbed, solid; the main thing is they need to be thin, almost clinging to your beautiful body. I’ve styled five looks ranging in vibe, so you’ll find some way to wear these beauts that’s best suited to your personal style. Me? I’d wear 4/5 but the fifth one is just so fun.
Let’s get to it!

Look One
The sweater that started it all! Is this not fall in a garment? It’s literally pumpkin spice latte color (real talk: are those actually good? I’ve never had one! Maybe it’s time.). Anyhow, while browsing recently I randomly came across these pants and just knew these two were meant to be together. Keeping within the warm tonal family, I added this shrunken-fit leather jacket that has the coolest seaming? Like it looks like it has staining issues but then you zoom in and it’s all intentional? Where do they get off with adding such strange and amazing details? To keep you all on your toes I didn’t choose a loafer! To kind of vibe with the western feel of the look I went with a brogue-seamed boot in chocolate. This whole look is delectable.
Look Two
It’s finally Bermuda/boot season! A favorite styling chapter in my yearly book. As soon as I found this knot-closure sweater, I knew I wanted to use my beloved Bermudas. And these are leather! In the same vein that these sweaters lean nerdy/preppy, so, too, does the Bermuda short, but you look at this outfit and it’s turned all those preconceptions on their heads. You can fully tuck the sweater or unbutton the bottom few closures to show off the cool buckle on your belt. Toss on your cowboy boots (a heeled boot also always works well), and then really knock everyone’s socks off with this incredible blue suede bag. The all-black look really platforms what is one of my favorite purses I’ve found. You could add a strap and let this be a classic purse, but I suggest wearing it high and tight at your shoulder for a more unexpected silhouette.
