Hi and happy Monday!
I’ve mentioned this before, but since opening the shop, I’ve been able to explore and solidify my personal style in a way I hadn’t either had time, money, or reason to.
For years in New York I worked from home - no need to fill out a robust work wardrobe - and before that I was in Antarctica! And while they do love a costume party down there, the weather often doesn’t call for anything other than insulated Carhartts. So, when I had to get dressed every day to work in the store, I was finally facing the wants, needs, and gaps of my wardrobe and was also finally in a place to tackle them. I can’t dismiss the benefit of time and this newsletter in assisting me in this reckoning, too. I’ve been searching and sourcing and experimenting in ways I never did before, and…I’m older! I know better what I feel best in and I don’t participate in every trend that crosses my path.
When I’m daydreaming about what to wear, it starts with the bottoms. I have fewer bottoms, so my outfits are more often dictated by them but I never paid attention to this before! This information alone was critical for getting dressed. It helps me save time in the mornings rustling through my tops, debating on the ~vibe~ for the day. All I have to do is figure out the bottom I’m going to wear and that alone sets the stage for the rest of the look. It’s easy for me to then find a top to match.
That being said, I’ve always had a couple favorite silhouettes that I’m now fully realizing. I love my legs! And while I’m clearly a pant person, I also LOVE a mini skirt with a blouse-y top (and the occasional mini dress! See: the header image). I’ve also always loved the laid-back vibe of a slouchy pant. For years I never had the pants to bring the vision to fruition, but you’ll see I now have a handful to choose from.
So today I’ve shared six different bottoms that have become my absolute MVPs this fall. There isn’t anything too Earth-shattering here, no big curveballs or anything unattainable (aside from one striped pair of pants that won’t be found in every closet), but that’s always been the ethos of this newsletter: mixing affordable, wearable vintage into a modern wardrobe. And I’m happy to share mine with you, should you also be on the journey of fine-tuning or dissecting your own style.
Four of the looks have shoppable collages and then at the end I’ve added another collage of tops & shoes that I wear regularly, as well!
One note before we dive in: my last styled collection for the shop goes live Wednesday! Watch below if you want some truly special New Year’s Eve looks:
Happy shopping, mes anges xx

1. Big Bud Press brown & black striped work pants
I had wanted these pants for YEARS. Maybe the last four? But every time I checked the website they were sold out and every resale site with Big Bud Press listings were ‘ISO’ instead of ‘I have’. But about two months ago, another vintage seller was wearing a pair and I commented how badly I’d always wanted a pair when she told me they were back on the website! Let me tell you I never bought something so quickly. These are - I think - the most expensive piece in my closet and they are WORTH it. I wear mine all the time. They’re graphic but minimal, the combo of two of my favorite colors, and so fun to play with. I also never fail to get at least four compliments each time I wear them, which never hurts my self-confidence ;) THE pant is here and are only really available in plus sizes right now.
