Hi and happy Sunday!

I’m sure you missed me on Wednesday but please accept my sincerest apologies as the week prior I surprised my boyfriend with a trip to Mexico City for a milestone birthday! It was both of our first times there and it was as wonderful as I had always heard and also…we got engaged! I surprised him with a trip and he surprised me with a proposal so we’ve been busy settling back home, celebrating our mutual love for surprises and each other, and then him getting the flu, ha. What a week!

I missed warm weather and people watching more than I realized so this trip provided for me in so many unexpected ways. Thanks to our travels - similar to my Paris trip last year - I’ll be debriefing the street style of Mexico City with a bonus newsletter soon!

In the meantime, I’m putting the final touches on the photoshoot prep I mentioned last week and the color story obviously inspired much of this sample platter, as did the fact that Gal- and Valentine’s Days are around the corner. Before that, though, is a vintage copycat from one of our collective favorites, so keep reading and happy shopping! xx

image via IG // Double strand pearl necklace, $30 // Navy bead & pearl lariat necklace, $44 // Plain black tee, $13 // Rosie Assoulin Grecian skirt, $213 // The Kooples black jacket, $52 (another great option) // Caron Callahan ponyhair maryjanes, $90

Harling Ross Anton
, the inimitable writer of
Gumshoe
(and former RGV interviewee!) has owned this Rosie Assoulin skirt for years and I’ve lusted after it for just as long. The Grecian influence, the color combination, the sneaky full-thigh slit? It’s romantic in a very cinematic way. It’s clearly a skirt that leans spring/summer, but I love how she winterized it with all black. So when I came across the same skirt but in navy (if I could justify buying this, I would - it’s my size! - but I’m passing it on to you bc I love you and I can’t afford it right now) I obviously knew what to do. Instead of Harling’s socks I would just add sheer tights to wear this whole look now!
