Pre-fall capsule collection part two!
Another round of chic neutrals to welcome the best season!
Hi and happy Friday!
Let’s take a walk through last week, shall we? This Tuesday we ambled through Noihsaf Vintage’s sale section and found all kinds of good stuff for fall - and for a steal (that Jil Sander jacket went fast!). Then, in case you missed it, last Friday I dropped the news that Really Good Vintage will be moving to only paid subscriptions starting September 15.
In the week since I announced the big change, I came to a realization that I could still provide some fun vintage finds for my free subscribers. In a reverse Becky Malinsky move, starting in October, the last newsletter of each month will be available to all subscribers. The other three weeks will be for paid subscribers only, but at least we won’t be wholly severing the relationship we’ve built over the last year and half (!!).
So, to build off last Friday’s Pre-fall Capusle Collection© (jkjk, like I could copyright that phrase), here is ROUND TWO. That’s right! Another 25 items that can be mixed and matched and worn together, especially with the first capsule collection since this one has no shoes! But what you will get to shop today is tops, blouses, skirts, more outerwear, and some fun jewelry. Next Friday will be another round-up but with color - specifically shades of green - so the party isn’t over yet.
Happy shopping!
Be sure to either click each link or zoom in on the image, this grid is small but contains mighty pieces!
Tops:
1. Chow sweatshirt, $30. Maybe it’s because I found a Pomeranian t-shirt recently, but this sweatshirt is so goofy and fun and would add some nice levity to any outfit! PLUS, it has a black turtleneck attached? That is so deeply 90s and I love it. Would wear with the black miniskirt, the ultrasuede trench, some loafers, and the Nina Ricci anklet.
2. Taupe cashmere/angora crop top, $48. She’s soft, she’s classic, she’s going to make the brown leather skirt, plaid mohair coat, and modernist earrings look reallllll good.
3. Brown mesh long sleeve top, $28. The best layering piece! Under the brown leather vest with the cream maxi skirt? Very 90s Gwyneth.
4. Brown cropped leather vest, $85. LOVE. The layering possibilities of this one is unreal. The dark brown color feels fresh over black leather, too. Over the cream silk blouse and burnt sienna ribbed skirt YES.
5. Black silk bustier, $34. Chic, dahling, chic. And with boning to keep you in place! Wear with the black tiered skirt, black leather trench, and black rhinestone earrings, dahling.
Blouses:
1. Escada black trim cream silk top, $30. Deceptively effective. The silk satin is like liquid and I would wear with the miniskirt and as the French would: with very sheer black tights.
2. Cream silk blouse, $10. A classic is a classic for a reason! This one has a fun twist with the military-style flaps. I’d go full Nancy Meyers: cream silk blouse + cream skirt + cream duster + funky lil peanut necklace (cuz why not).
3. Express gauze vest tunic, $30. Another great layering piece - would be cool under the brown leather vest. But I would wear over the sienna knit skirt, with the Escada mohair print jacket and the gold necklace.
4. Brown sheer crinkle blouse, $40. A piece that can be worn a million different ways (as evidenced by my verbose styling tips). Want to downplay the tiered black skirt? Add the black bustier and then this brown sheer blouse unbuttoned and then - here’s the kicker - add black leather flip flops.
5. Givenchy sheer swiss dot blouse, $25. Definitely click the link for this one, a lot of special details will be missed if not. But I would make sure to wear this with the collarless plaid coat so I could flounce out the collar!
Skirts:
1. Cream sheer-hem slinky maxi skirt, $45. Easy to make this casual with that sweet Chow sweatshirt and some chunky boots, but I also like it with the black bustier, leather trench, and some sky-high heels.
2. Burnt sienna ribbed knit set, $77. I cheated again! I know this is a set but it’s still a skirt set and an amazing one at that! It’s so modern! But it’s vintage! The top would be cool with the brown mesh top underneath and the skirt legit works with any top or coat. Just make sure to add the modernist earrings.
3. Escada brown leather skirt, $72. Chic chic chic. The waist on this is badass, as is the dark brown color. Remember that scene in Charlie’s Angels where Lucy Liu dresses in all leather and whips those coders into shape? This skirt has that energy. Amazing with the black bustier, black leather boots, and the simple gold necklace.
4. Cache double slit mini skirt, $49. Can’t go wrong with a mini skirt! Would go with Marant-ish layering with the long cream vest or Rykelian layering with the swiss dot top.
5. Black sheer layered flounce skirt, $44. The last tier of this skirt is sheer and the way it would move is magic. How to wear it? With the cream & black satin blouse, the silk duster, and some heeled boots.
Outerwear:
1. Cream silk blazer duster, $78. Absolutely divine. Go uber sexy and pair the black bustier with the black mini skirt and the rhinestone earrings. Just add your own black heels and tights.
2. Camel ultra suede trench, $65. So soft, so chic. Love the overt military nod and all the buckles. Also love the idea of layering this coat on top of the Escada print jacket below.
3. Escada print mohair jacket, $145. A little pricier than usual but this has such modern Rachel Comey vibes I had to share. Love the subtle print and that it could swing casual to elevated really easily. Pair with anything in this grid!
4. Brown plaid mohair coat, $99. Another mohair, but with a decidedly more elevated feel. You know how I feel about collarless jackets (i.e. j’adore) and the plaid and length really make this special.
5. Black leather duster, $72. I shared a leather blazer last week, but this leather duster is equally essential! Very different vibes! The rounded shoulders and clean collar are very reminiscent of The Row, but for about 1/1000 of the price.
Jewelry:
1. Gold multi-chain necklace, $30. Simple and pretty. Love how it builds to larger links in the middle. You know it would pretty much work with anything, but love the idea of it layered with the peanut pendant!
2. Nina Ricci ball chain anklet, $12. I’m really feeling anklets to pair with my loafers for fall and love the punky vibe of this ball chain one.
3. Sterling modernist earrings, $49. Weird and directional and I wonder if those balls twist?
4. Peanut necklace, $27. So goofy! First saw one of these in a Shop Stressed drop and thought it was so funny but also weirdly could be styled chic? Like, the fanciest way to tell someone you have a peanut allergy ever.
5. Sorelli black brutalist rhinestone earrings, $50. Stunners. Black rhinestones + brass is not a common combination, nor ever so winning. These are gorgeous and sculptural and really really special.
