Guest Edit: Glenn Mae of 'Trash Panic'
+ A beachy, breezy round-up to feed our summery dreams
Hi and happy Friday!
As teased Wednesday, here is another bonus newsletter, this time from a fashion writer’s whose voice & style I aspire to,
!:When Glenn isn't browsing for vintage treasures and curating The Dump on
—her newsletter dedicated to uncovering some of the best secondhand gems the internet has to offer—you can likely find her exploring a local antique mall, watching classic films, or hunting for the kitschiest bars and restaurants around town. Subscribe here or follow her on Instagram here.A note from Glenn about this curation:
She Sells Seashells….a feminine beach vibes edit because I’m dreaming about warm sunshine and an ocean breeze…
30s/40s celluloid shell necklace, $120. Celluloid was the first synthetic plastic and was very popular as a jewelry material in the early 1900s. I love how playful it is and think it gives "statement jewelry" a fun twist.
Straw fish purse!, $145. Is there anything more fun than a statement bag? I would use this as a “summer outing” bag year after year!
Sterling big fish brooch, $53. To expand on Nora’s gorgeous curation of sterling silver, there is literally an endless supply of stunnin silver pieces floating around the world wide web waiting to be added to your jewelry collection. And fish motifs are a year round accessory, if you ask me.
Floral bias cut dress, $40. I’m still in denial that things from the 90s are considered vintage, but this dress is a timeless beauty and a perfect spring/summer staple.
Contempo Casuals white eyelet set, $53. It’s giving Doên without the price tag!
Sterling shell charm bracelet, $28. More stunning silver!
30s/40s light blue nautical cowichan, $200. I love a novelty sweater and this handmade cowichan style one is no exception! It has a little damage, but I think that adds to the charm of it being well loved. I’d wear it around town with my favorite jeans or to fight off the chilly afternoon salty breeze on a beach day.
Rope & cork woven cap, $22. The cork ball pom poms?! Incredible.
Wood shell trinket box, $18. The perfect little trinket box for all your beach combing finds…
Glass clam trinket dish, $20. Or maybe this one for your favorite rings?
Cult Gaia ankle wrap raffia wedge, $68.50. A functional, walkable, very cute, very timeless “dress up or dress down” shoe for under $100!
Loewe cream plastic sunnies, $150. I love a Loewe sunglasses moment but I never love the retail price. Somebody, swoop up these PRISTINE sunnies for $150!
D’Molina Taxco sterling fish bracelet, $199. Stunning. Showstopper. Dare I say, sexy? A forever piece.
LL Bean floral chore jacket, $129. Why have a plain chore coat when you could have this floral cutie? The seller accepts offers, which means you could probably get it for under $100, too….
3-bottle wine carrier basket, $43. You will be the coolest cat in town when you show up to the function with your wine carrier!!!
Thank you so much, Glenn! And thank you all for being here - have a great weekend! xx Maggie
Can you tell I'm over -15 degrees wind chill here in the Midwest 😅
This was so much fun to curate *and* got me thinking of what I want to thrift and secondhand shop for this spring/summer -- Thank you for having me! You're the best✨
Oh my goodness what a brilliant post! Finding beautiful antique items online today requires so much time and skill. With so many replicas available, it can be challenging to determine if something is genuinely vintage. My favorites from this list are the seashell necklace and the sailing cardigan. xx
