Hi and happy Tuesday!
Hope my fellow NYC-ers enjoyed the stunning weather we had the past weekend! For today’s newsletter I found myself circling the colors green, blue, brown, and grey and made six different outfits in varying degrees of formality with them. I’m also providing two different looks with cummerbund pants because they are amazing and I want everyone to share in the knowledge that it is spelled cummerbund and not cumberbund as I thought for many long years. One b! Who knew?
Enjoy and happy shopping!
Ever since I laid eyes on the pants from Look 3 from this newsletter (still available!), I’ve been searching for my own cummerbund pants! These are fantastic because they have the cummerbund pleating but not the classic black or shiny iteration we’re used to - they’re cummerbund-lite which will make it easier to wear these in any setting, not just fancy to-dos. I decided to play off the slight heather of the pant with a cropped sweater in heathered oatmeal, and is similarly a lite option - cut like a blazer but in a casual knit. Then add cute and sturdy heels and a cool-ass watch!
I put the pants and tunic together and then realized I had started on the path toward an emotional recreation of one of my all-time favorite Carrie looks. I covet her jacket in a very biblical sense (anyone have an ID on designer? I’ve never found it.). For this look it’s all about floaty layers and good fabrics. What I’ve put together is a similar colorway and sumptuous velvet - all that’s missing is pocket chocolates! The Yves Klein blue of the Halston tunic is a gorgeous complement to the metallic bronze of the silk pants and velvet heels. I demand that you keep the tunic untucked and I offer you two excellent options for outerwear: a drapey navy trench for less, or a luxe collarless velvet for more. Either way you can’t miss and hopefully, too, find yourself in an amorous park encounter!
