Hi and happy Tuesday!
Hope your Thanksgiving week is kicking off swimmingly. I had my Friendsgiving on Saturday and am still basking in the glow of such a lovely evening. As far as fashion and newsletterland is concerned, I’m clearly late to the game and my Friendsgiving is the chief reason!
Since I didn’t publish the usual ‘Sample Platter’ last Wednesday and instead shared the newest collection for the store, I figured this would be a good week to do a mega honkin’ (technical term) collection of ‘Things I Like’! I have nothing but my own brain and conversations with customers to back this up, but this year feels like most people have started to embrace the beauty of brown. Chocolate, mocha, espresso, latte, cocoa - all such delicious terms for an excellent neutral.
What I love so much about brown is the interesting color combinations that can arise. You can have the simplest outfit, but take a pair of brown cords and add a chunky red sweater and camel boots and you have a look whose whole is so much more than its parts. My favorites to pair with brown are a red or red/orange, cobalt blue, hunter green, and black, as seen in this and this newsletter that uses interiors as inspo:
So in the 30-piece ‘Things I Like’ below there will be a bevy of brown and then a small handful of pieces in bright colors that marry well with mahogany. Before that is a return to ‘Vintage Copycat’ with Gwyneth Paltrow’s red velvet suit that needs a red carpet or holiday party STAT.

It’s a little darker and missing the tuxedo satin strips, but good lord. Imagine showing up to your holiday party in this, with the same slicked-back hair. Eyes will bulge, jaws will unhinge, tongues will loll - we love an outfit that elicits cartoon reactions! The matching velvet shoes are just icing on the Goop cake.
