Bits and bobs and clothes and things
An empty-the-fridge kind of edit with a little bit of everything
Hi and happy Friday!
This week’s newsletter is a bit of a jumble of everything. My brain as of late has been somewhat of a scrambled egg instead of its usual 8-minute soft boil, so what you’ll find below is a big 30-piece ‘Things I Like’ which includes a continuation of the sheer newsletter from Tuesday with sheer tops and dresses, some cool clothes I’ve stumbled upon in the last week, and a handful of home goods (including a twinning nose with me!). It’s a mish-mash of stuff and I can’t promise my comments aren’t more than a little all over the place, but hopefully you find a cute objet or two, or just a spark of inspiration!
Happy shopping!
1. Cinnamon Outlander cardigan, $45. Love this color and the stiffness and structure of the knit. It reminds me a lot of Babaà.
2. Jill Stuart sheer lace dress, $126. Jill Stuart is an American designer but when I first saw this dress I thought, “this feels so Japanese” and after doing some digging, lo and behold she has a bigger market in Japan than the US! I love the shape, the detailing, and the fact that it’s sheer. Would wear this over a black tank crop top and some flared, ribbed pants.
3. Wooden chain, $24. I love the idea of adding detail where you least expect it. Have a swag lamp with a bland brass chain? Add this! Have a hanging planter that could use zhuzhing? Well here ya go! Just want it laying artfully on a stack of books? I got you.
4. Yellow sheer button down, $40. Bold and boxy, just like I like my sheer button ups.
5. Electric blue loose silk dress, $24. I’m imaging this oversized on a small frame with platform sandals and it’s really good. The color alone is a stunner!
6. Floral mesh maxi, $45. Add black slip dress, will travel.
7. Red Talbots suit, $25. Never you mind the styling of this one, it’s a classic red suit for a steal!
8. Puff sleeve sweater, $45. Sweet and pastoral and makes me want to hold a lamb in a field.
9. Italian tole flower wall hanging, $85. This thing is *big* and stunning and there are two available. I would add this to a gallery wall with #10 on a bookshelf below it.
10. C2C faux marble nose, $55. Inspired by Tyson Curates I went in search of my own nose bookend/statue. I found two, bought one, and am now sharing the bonus here! It’s technically part of a set that is $$ but we get a deal for buying a solo piece.
11. Cream jumpsuit, $74. Would that it twere my size!
12. Black polo mesh maxi, $100. I know this is a lot for a black mesh polo dress but if you’re in the market for a black mesh polo dress, you’ll notice that black mesh polo dresses are hard to find. Thus, this black mesh polo dress is very well worth the dough.
13. Brown plaid sweater vest, $35. Adorably preppy! Would wear over a white button down and some jeans.
14. Plaid short set, $35. I will never not love a short suit. They’re cool for the summer and cool for your closet and also a cool $35 for which your wallet will be like, “cool.”
15. Matisse print maxi skirt, $35. Be a walking piece of art!
16. Sand sheer button down, $40. A sheer button down in a neutral? Yes, please. Would wear with #13.
17. Sheer-top raglan sleeve mesh maxi, $85. Ok this is insane and I love it. Either #freethenipple or toss on a lacy triangle bra! Regardless, you’ll turn heads.
18. Burnt orange linen duster, $60. A classic piece in a non-classic color. I’m already looking towards spring and this feels juuuuuust right.
19. Sheer skirt set, $23. Horrible photo so please click this link to understand its magnificence! The front of the shirt is totally sheer while the back is opaque. And the top layer of the skirt is sheer, which highlights the scallop hem at the bottom! All these details are missed from this bad photo, so again, click that link.
20. Marigold linen dress, $35. I said I was looking toward spring but this is pure summer and it’s so cheery and fun and a great platform for lots of gold jewelry.
21. Taupe & black striped minidress, $24. A favorite color combo in a favorite print in a favorite silhouette. I’m all in.
22. Linda Allard for Ellen Tracy silk blazer, $26. If we’re talking classics, is anything moreso than a crisp, silk, double-breasted blazer?
23. Onyx wine goblets, $90. Usually I see onyx barware in cordial or aperitif form, but these are actual goblets that can hold a much heartier pour.
24. Black gingham Esprit tank, $6. Summery? Yes. But add black turtleneck to wear now. Also…$6.
25. Torch-cut mushroom statuette, $36. Who knew brutalism could be cute?
26. Floral mesh tee, $29. A throw-on-and-go kinda top. Would look cool with #4 or #28 over it.
27. Blue floral mesh maxi, $58. A vacation mesh dress! I would wear this as a cover up but who are we kidding that it’s covering anything and also who cares?
28. Red short sleeve button down, $35. Like #4, she’s boxy and bold but this time short-sleeved.
29. Black crinkle blazer, $30. Tired of plain black blazers or tux jackets? Might I suggest a crinkle fabric to liven up your businesswear?
30. Striped sweater turtleneck, $38. I have this and love it and I can attest that it looks great under brown suede overalls!
Thanks for wading through the mayhem that was my brain this week! The last sheer installment comes out Tuesday and then next Friday may or may not be Bode-inspired. You’ll have to wait and see! Thanks as always for being here xx Maggie
