Hi and happy Tuesday!
I swear I haven’t forgotten my Tuesday newsletters, I simply got severely overwhelmed by the sheer amount of sheer stuff I found. I would liken it to how a non-thrifter would feel in a huge Goodwill or something - too much to choose from so how do you start?! I finally got my ducks in a row and have three different sheer-based newsletters ready to roll, and here’s the first!
Below I got most excited about the simplicity of a sheer tunic button up. It seems like such an unnecessary piece, and a confusing one, to boot. So I took on the challenge and styled a black version five different ways. You can always style these with a slip dress or a tank underneath but I wanted a challenge in order to spotlight the versatility of such a quiet piece. After I built these outfits it struck me that each of them could stand on their own without the tunic, but adding in the sheer layer and texture creates something much more interesting. And not to toot my own horn but all of these outfits build a pretty darn strong closet. Capsule wardrobe, anyone?
Below the five styled looks are an additional 20 items as alternatives to the pieces in the styled outfits: eight other sheer tunics, extra oversized turtlenecks/vests, and a few more dresses and suits. Options!

Happy shopping!
Star piece: Black sheer tunic, $76
Look One: Black turtleneck tunic, $72 + Ganni khakis, $84 + Chunky black boot, $40
The most laid back of the five outfits, this look uses the tunic as a simple layering piece hanging out from under the oversized turtleneck. You want a sweater that doesn’t have a fitted waistband so that everything can hang loose and louche rather than worrying about bunchingat/fiddling with the waist. This feels like a very Scandinavian look, mainly thanks to these Ganni pants with a great shape and chunky boots. Comfortable and cool.
Look Two: Black short vest suit, $9 + Black leather fanny pack, $21 + Patent & mesh oxfords, $46
Springtime Business Cher. Wear the tunic under the vest and over the shorts for a spry little look to run around town in. I’m imagining this as an outfit worn as an editorial assistant. It’s thoughtful, a little different, and easy to wear on set, in office, or running errands around town.
Look Three: Calvin Klein minidress, $18 + Rhinestone disco drop earrings, $64 + Stuart Weitzman disco ball heels, $52
Yowza! Plan a date night with this clingy minidress over the tunic and add super sheer tights! Then get some matching glitz on your toes and your lobes with rhinestone disco ball details. Unexpected but still very sexy.
Look Four: Eileen Fisher loose vest, $40 + Reversible plaid midiskirt, $48 + Suede heeled boots, $15
Leave the tunic untucked again for a textural delight. This look makes me think of a late 80s romcom wherein the heroine works at a publishing house and lives in a home filled with books and manuscripts and by the end of the movie she figures out she’s totally happy on her own. This is a person very comfortable in their skin and life. A nice message to convey!
Look Five: Long black vest, $40 + Acne jeans, $75 + Striped suede boots, $67
Probably the most Maggie of the looks: low stakes but stylish (my sweet spot). The vest could be buttoned all the way or just button the top two and let the rest hang open over the tunic. Then some stiff denim and interesting boots round out a look that exudes confidence and is so simple to combine.
Row 1: Sheer navy tunic, $65 // Brown ozbek tank tunic, $98 // Ivory button down tunic, $64 // Black button down tunic, $25
Row 2: Snake print tunic, $30 // Navy floral shirt dress, $24 // Gold dress set, $37 // Snake shirtdress, $9
Row 3: Faded turtleneck, $50 // Cropped turtleneck, $48 // Iro chunky turtleneck, $62.50 // Lew Magram white leopard sweater, $55

Row 5: Hooded minidress, $21 // Crochet minidress, $45 // Open-side tunic, $43 // Black pant vest set, $18
Hope this inspired some excitement around a simple tunic! Friday I’ll be sharing a bunch of sheer pieces I like and next Tuesday is the last styling round with sheer pants and skirts. Giddyup! Thank you as always for being here xx Maggie
