Hi all!
I have to keep the intro short, lest I max out the size of the newsletter again, but suffice to say, this week was very hard to write but then became some good catharsis for me. I hope it offers some respite for you, too.
As the subject line suggests, there are so many good tops (and great dresses) in here! And we’re back to the usual programming of “Vintage Copycat” + “Styled Looks” + “Things I Like,” hooray! Happy shopping, darlings.
I know the inspo image uses a gingham button down, but I know me and I know you, and I know a striped button down hits the spot a little better. And lo! This pleated number is not a skirt but shorts! You get the flirt energy of a swingy pleated skirt with the mobility of a pair of shorts - amazing. While the thought of a sweater right now might feel insane, this oversized v-neck is actually a vintage Adidas sweater and I am in love! Really amps up the sportiness of the outfit while remaining cool and casual. And in my imagination the model is wearing these classic frames and some country-club approved leather slides.
I’ve been sitting on this tunic for a couple of weeks because I couldn’t quite find a new way to wear it and then boom! this absolutely fantastic slit skirt came into my life. Look at this thing! You get to decide how sexy you want this outfit to be - don’t unzip at all or go allllllll the way up - but it’s a great foil to the monastic design of the tunic. If these two pieces fit me, you would never have seen them, so please enjoy! Of course I would also want to juxtapose the sexiness of a thigh slit miniskirt with some masculine brogues. And then this Kate Spade tote is a more adult version of that ubiquitous backpack that was all over my high school and too expensive for my paltry summer job wages. Adult me loves this and can also now afford it. Yay!
Look at this polo! I had to add a close-up photo so you could see how fantastic it is. Who knew Valentino was once so preppy? I love making this polo a little flirtier with a white leather miniskirt and while I’m clearly in a miniskirt mood, this top would look equally amazing with a pair of classic trousers like these (that are $5!). Then throw on some chic lace-up sandals and a pop of color from this kelly green leather bucket bag! This color will be everywhere this summer and I’m not mad about it.
This look was also built around this fabulous top! Because it’s so voluminous, I wanted to keep the rest of the outfit sleek and simple, so under this incredible, sheer, tuxedo-bib Armani tank, I would add a little navy silk camisole and some chic cigarette pants. I’d add some mesh sling backs to echo the sheer of the top and also get some good 90s toe cleavage (a term I hate but a look I love) and then top it all off with these cute earrings! There are rhinestones on the sides, too, so they’re good from every angle.
From top left to right:
1. Plaid cross back sundress, $32. I’m such a sucker for a good back and this is a really good back. I also love the colors of the plaid and am imagining this as a great dress for a summer picnic! And take this into fall by throwing on #13 when it gets chilly!
2. Reike Nen flats, $90. I love this brand but these shoes are never under $200. Whomever is a size 6 is very lucky, indeed.
3. Forenza green silk blouse, $24. I stand by this being a color of the summer and this is like liquid silk (and reminds me of this Samantha Jones outfit, at 00:57).
4. Victoria’s Secret vest set, $45. Get your minimal Moira on! You know the Schitt matron loves a vest, so why not follow suit? This is a breathable cotton set so it would be just as good as summer pajamas as it would on the summer streets.
5. Nicole Miller black cross back dress, $71. I told you I love a cross back! And this Nicole Miller number has an even sexier surprise in the front (definitely click this link).
6. Gingham vest set, $55. More vests! More sets! Obviously I had specific search terms and found multiple great options for each (see also: kelly green, cross back dresses) and this one is so cute I obviously had to share! They’re also excellent summer separates so you get a lot of bang for your buck.
7. Anne Klein corset tank, $30. Just a really good tank. Love the ruching detail. Would wear with high waist Wranglers and some Adidas slides.
8. Brown crinkle jumpsuit, $47. The fabric, the color, the blazer cut - you know this hits all the marks. I see this as a great furniture shopping look? I don’t know why but you would make great decor decisions in this jumpsuit.
9. Silk shell blouse, $15. So long, Sally. You’ll easily usurp her seashell business in this breezy blouse.
10. Purple plaid short suit (with bonus pink shorts!), $16. This was a FIND. A plaid suit for $16 is unreal, but wait! There is a bonus pair of pink plaid shorts that goes along with this set and if ever you needed a sign to jump on a summer suit, this is it.
11. Frederick’s of Hollywood plaid blazer, $32. Chic plaid blazer in a size 3X! Would wear this with a tank like #7 or over #5 to tone it down a bit (if so desired).
12. Ecru silk slip dress, $50. I don’t look good in these but I’m drawn to their siren song every time. Like #3, this looks like liquid silk seems like it will make its wearer absolutely glow!
13. Abstract print sweater, $21. I know it seems too hot for sweaters, but this one is so cute! Lovely neutral colors with an easy but cool abstract print.
14. Newspaper print button down, $32. Extra! Extra! The reigning headline of this newsletter should be how good this shirt is!
15. White beach coverup, $60. I mean, Santorini is calling! This gorgeous piece is begging for some well-worn leather sandals, a big hat, and afternoons hopping between wandering cobblestone streets and swimming in the Aegean (oh, the life).
16. Yellow minidress, $55. Bright, breathable, and itty bitty. The perfect summer dress.

That’s it for this week! Take care of yourselves and hug all your loved ones in a big, big way. Thank you for being here, as always, and please let me know in the comments if you’ve found a treasure or two in here! xx Maggie
