HELLO & welcome back!
In no way did I intend to go so long without writing or styling for you. Sometimes life gets in the way and sometimes life picks you up out of your chair, tosses you into a tornado, and leaves you eating grass with cows in a field in Kansas. So, greetings from the farmland! In the last two weeks, I’ve hosted multiple friends, celebrated a birthday, had two huge pop-ups (one with Lord John & one with Fleur de Flea), and worked my other job in between all of that. It’s been a lot and I appreciate your grace in letting me take a small break to catch my breath. Even with all the excitement, I have some IG story sales planned, so give me a follow over there to keep up with it all! (That’s also where I announce when newsletters are delayed, so it’s good for all kinds of updates).
But you’re not here for excuses - you’re here for vintage! And I aim to provide you with it! I’m diving back into our regular scheduling, so below I’ve styled three linen pant looks and one plissé set look because when you accidentally find two pieces of a set separately, you need to reunite them as soon as possible. Lots of great earrings, summer tanks, and shoes, glorious shoes!
Happy shopping!
How do you see these pants and think, “meh”? They are summer incarnate! High waist but hang loose, minimal plaid, and a classic navy & white?? I went casual with this look and found a fab little crochet tank (those rosettes!) to tuck in or french tuck, because you have to let the people see your precious little woven belt bag that nestles so sweetly in those belt loops. Toss on some very Linda Farrow-esque shades and really knock it out of the park with these Loq-esque tortoise clogs. Where’s she going? Shopping, brunch, work (dependent on field), a farewell party (let em see what they’re losing)…a big…boat? Clearly will take you anywhere.
Speaking of a boat, we’ve got some linen sailor pants to style! Another high waist but hang loose cut, and this time we’re adding a little keyhole spaghetti strap. The wedges are divine and I’m wondering if I should have just bought them myself and not shared?? But I’m magnanimous and I digress. They’re chic! Buy ‘em! Then add this black Gucci-esque bamboo bag and the pièce de résistance of the whole outfit are these MASSIVE bean earrings, which will automatically elevate any outfit, even a white tee/jeans look! They’re incredible.
Another nautical-inspired look grounded by the best pants in the biz. Love the cut, love the color, love the designer, but obviously we’re all here for the buttons! Go as high or low as you want and keep people guessing the whole time. Another pant with great loops deserves a great brass-buckle-belt and easy easy flats. This very much feels like a yacht look, and I personally wouldn’t risk heels on a yacht (as if I’ve been on one lol). This shrunken striped tee tucks perfectly in and you can’t yacht without fabulous sunglasses (this feels like a universal boat truth). You’re the best looking person on board so now to sip some Prosecco!
The last look and fanciest of them all! Technically this could also be a water-adjacent look? Beach wedding guest, perhaps? These chic silk gingham mules are kitten heels so could maneuver in sand pretty well. Regardless, here are the two Three Flaggs (a great, affordable vintage plissé brand) pieces that can be reunited! This outfit is a textural delight, made moreso by this fab little feather bag which can fit phone, keys, cards, sunscreen, and mints for all your wedding day needs. Then to add more dimension we’re layering earrings: the black beaded hoops go on first and behind them you can clip these adorably wonky flowers. Best look on the beach, people!
Thanks so much again and always for being here! Friday will be an extra large helping of things I like, and this train will keep rolling from there. Tell all your friends! Share this sweet missive with anyone who loves chic secondhand steals! xx Maggie
Once again, you really have to be the newsletter early bird to catch some of your finds!
