Christie Turlington for Gianfranco Ferré in 1987

Hi and happy Friday!

This past weekend I absconded to New York for a friend’s wedding which was so loving, so easy, and so fun. Prior to the event, my friend and I were trying to figure out what to wear - buy something new? stick with an old stand-by? And because I haven’t had a wedding to attend in a while, this conundrum really got stuck in my craw. So as we enter wedding season I figured I’d throw together a little list of easy wedding guest looks for anyone in a similar predicament.

While I’m usually one for separates, a dress is truly the easiest route for looking and feeling dressed up. So I’ve gathered four different categories of dresses for your perusal, running the gamut from casual to formal. The first three categories are: solid colors, florals, and black. And the fourth is a specific look based on one of the attendees of Sunday’s wedding. It was a quick ceremony at the park and then reception at a nearby bar, so the dress code was chill. This one gal though, was wearing a backless linen halter dress that buttoned up the front, worn with espadrilles and the best curly hair in the game. My friends and I were in awe! She was resplendent. So the fourth category is based solely on her, this fabulous mystery guest and one whose outfit is definitely worth replicating, whether it’s for a casual wedding or a casual day in your life.

And not only have I recently attended a wedding, but I have not one, not two, not three, but FOUR friends that are recently engaged so weddings are on the brain. Keep an eye out next week for some alternative bride looks I’ve been sourcing for all of them. xx

*Don’t forget anything marked with an asterisk received a discount after “liking” them!*

Solid Colors

Look: Albert Nipon marigold linen dress, $74* + Barney’s red ankle strap heels, $68 + Roberta di Camerino trompe l’oeil velvet bag, $78

1. Lavender silk column dress, $68 // 2. Silk cut-out minidress, $118 // Rebecca Taylor rust feather dress, $90* // Oleg Cassini red satin dress, $69 // Tibi powder pink strapless dress, $84* // Red bow party dress, $69 // Ellen Tracy silk jumpsuit, $145

As a minimalist, a solid hue is the easiest way for me to add conviviality into my wardrobe. I love both the punch of a bold color and the subtlety of a pastel - it just depends on my milieu.
