Prada boots, YSL heels, and Donna Karan loafers
+ a vintage copycat of an Accidental Influencer outfit!
Happy first week of the new year!
If you’re like me, this grey, overcast, weird, in-between week couldn’t come to a close fast enough. It’s felt weird, I’ve felt weird, and I’m ready to shake off the dust. I’ve heard that the eternal balm for all woes is some *really* good vintage, though. So let’s dive in! This week providence dropped the perfect ‘Vintage Copycat’ photo in my lap, so there’s one of those and then a whopping 25 of some of my favorite vintage I’ve found this week!
Also a heads up that next Tuesday’s newsletter will be another round-up of home goods (!!!), so if you’re not a paid subscriber yet, allow me to entice you…
I’ve been sitting on this amazing Bill Blass coat since early December, not quite sure what to do with it. It’s pricier than I usually share here so it felt disingenuous to just throw it in a round-up, but it’s so special I knew it needed some sort of spotlight. Thus! Fate stepped in and I stumbled upon this Accidental Influencer photo! Her coat is EENK, and while suffice to say our Bill Blass is less expensive, it also has a modern Dior quality and heavy weight that helps set it apart. The rest was just fun to fill in! Lots of brown and maroon accessories which are a great color foil to such bold blue pants. I love that she’s just wearing a bra, but I’m much more modest and would throw on a solid brown tissue turtleneck instead. But you do you!
1. Kenzo white fringed sweater dress, $80. You know this gal loves fringe, and this is vintage Kenzo, to boot! I would wear it with #18.
2. Brown Prada boots, $80. Square toe, tapered heel, can’t lose.
3. Scalloped crochet tank, $45. You’ll notice a few summer-y pieces in here but if there’s one rule when vintage-hunting, it’s that when you find good vintage, you have to pounce regardless of the current season! This is so DÔEN but a fraction of the price.
4. Red & white knit dress/cardi set, $22. Let’s talk about this knit dress! I LOVE her. Some serious late 80s ELLE editorial vibes. Find this set a yacht asap!
5. Mohair cropped jacket, $36. Click the link! The tent shape of this jacket is so modern. I just passed on a DVF jacket like this on TRR and it’s haunting me. If this one fit me it wouldn’t be on this list. It would be in my closet.
6. Paul McCartney band tee, $50. Paul is the best Beatle. I will not be taking questions. Wear with #5 and #20!
7. Sheer crinkle bandeau/skirt set, $79. This set! The fun to be had wearing it together or breaking it up - what a dream. Very Bella Hadid vibes.
8. Ferragamo lace-up flats, $21. I mean…
9. Linen skirt pants, $72. While I can’t embrace the low waist denim of my youth, I am all in on the intentional skirt-over-pant look. This one rendered in linen is kind of Yohji Yamamoto-lite, and the shape of the pant is key. I love that it’s a straight leg and not a flare (like the ones I used to wear).
10. Red ribbed henley, $15. I just finished the second season of White Lotus, and could you not see Harper wearing this? Love the collar, the color, and the length.
11. YSL scallop heel, $48. SO FAB.
12. Asai boucle coat, $57. The hem and fabric are clearly what makes this so special. Definitely would wear with #19.
13. Creatures of Comfort navy linen dress, $24. Summery! My favorite summer color to wear is navy and I’m a sucker for a lace-up front, so this is clearly speaking my language.
14. Black wide leg pants, $13. Classic and affordable and probably something you won’t realize you’ll wear over and over (and over) again.
15. Mega collar’n’sleeves blouse, $90. Such! great! details!
16. Bottega Veneta ponyhair tassel loafers, $48 (Trademark ones here). Love a Belgian loafer, and here are two fantastic options.
17. The Odd tshirt, $38. Say it loud, say it proud! No clue what ‘The Odd’ is referring to, though. I looked into it being a reference to The Odd Couple but I don’t think it is. Pretty apropos that a shirt that says “The Odd” is itself, a bit odd, no? I’m into it.
18. Camel suede wrap jacket, $58. That is some buttery suede right there.
19. White leather pants, $13. Occasionally I find things like this, and it’s just like…$13. $13!! For something that generally would cost $100-$1000+ from modern designers. Benefit from the spoils of my searching, do yourself a favor, and buy and love these beauts.
20. Sergio Valente bi-color jeans, $31. Nice little twist on denim without being hokey.
21. Donna Karan ponyhair loafers, $39. So chic!
22. Gold metallic pants, $35. These are so fun, and not to be a pusher, but I added these to my watchlist and just got an offer of $20 on them…
23. Denim jumpsuit, $24. A classic! The chest pockets are a special touch but otherwise, this is just a great little jumpsuit.
24. Brown leather skirt set, $63. A resounding yes from me. Would add a brown & white striped turtleneck and maybe #2?
25. Striped knit short set, $35. 10/10 would wear in or out of the house. 10/10 would gladly accept all compliments when wearing them.
Thank you so much as always for being here! Hope your second week of 2023 kicks off swimmingly and have a great weekend! xx Maggie
Love the vintage copycat section!
A really fun read. Too bad (wink) so many items sold before I had a chance to click through!
