Hello and welcome to all the newcomers! I’m thrilled you’re joining me because you and I both love vintage very much. This is the fifth edition of the newsletter, so make sure to check previous weeks, as well - there is so much left to shop!
For those who were with me last week: you guys, I did it again. I will eventually learn to edit myself better but this is the second week in a row I overloaded Substack (wah wah) but that means you get a double dose of vintage again (wahoo!). This newsletter will be all styled looks and a bonus newsletter will hit your inbox tomorrow with a bunch of great vintage I’ve found the last week.
Anyhow! Below you’ll shop three features: 1. Vintage copycatting an old inspo photo with vintage stuff; 2. Three styled looks + my commentary on them; and 3. One-two punches of outfits for styling on the fly (most of this stuff is via Ebay, so check my first newsletter here that shares tips for using the site). Below each image are the links to shop - so get to scrolling and enjoy!
The inspiration image makes a big statement out of very little. I’ve had this one saved for a very long time and have yet to find the exact pants but I’ve found some great approximations I’m very excited about. Of course vintage Jil Sander is sleek and minimal but wow is this something special. I chose a bodysuit instead of a crewneck top or sweater, but feel free to swap in whatever you have in its place. The belt is key - it’s basically a leather cummerbund and really makes the look cohesive. The shoes are patent and beautiful and they are a *steal*! But let’s talk pants. I offer you three options: 1. $$$ but original Jil Sander with similar crease and cuff; 2. Some Marants for those that are more into the oversize pockets than stiff militarism; and 3. A great cuffed/creased pant but far more affordable! The choice is yours!
I desperately love a big blousy top that’s paired with a crop top - it’s so satisfying to reign in the volume and highlight the body in a new way (honestly in my head it’s almost like a modernized Thackery Binx vibe which maybe shows my age but whatever??). To give the top half a 90s edge, I would wear these pale jeans and a black backpack, like a young, Brat Pack era Demi Moore (so many references in for this look!) and finish it off with what might be the absolute coolest sneakers I’ve ever found. This could work with a loafer or a boot, but there’s something coolly casual about the sneakers that really hits the sartorial spot.
This outfit started with the fringe tank because it is SO FUN. Try not smiling when you’re wearing this thing! I dare you! To marry the fun of the tank, I found these joyous Stine Goya pants in a subdued but colorful pant! Then to play against the frivolity of the outfit I would pair it with some combat boots (I personally like when outfits combine feminine and masculine details) and then toss on some trusty gold twist hoops!
You know I love a tonal outfit and unlike fashion purists, I love wearing white and cream together! This again is one of those outfits that sounds so basic: sweater/pants/flats but look at this! Everything has it’s own special touch. The sweater is the perfect crop and you could wear it any scenario, but paired with these brocade-esque trousers, it’s elevated to some 90s Hermès realness. I’ve actually been sitting on this outfit for a couple weeks because I couldn't find the right shoe but lo and behold, Ferragamo finds a way. These are pristine and incredible and $25 (!!!) so act fast you size 8’s! Then thanks to the black piping of the loafers, I added a black belt to break up the beige and finish the outfit off right!
1.LOOK AT THESE PANTS! I’m not saying one more word til you click that link because these are glorious. And they deserve to sing with this adorably cute and impossibly nautical cropped striped sweater. // 2. I really think pendant necklaces deserve their day in the sun, especially one as stunning as this. And what better way to show off your necklace (& décolletage) than this plunge tie-front top?? // 3. And now for some updated American sportswear! I know I’m not alone in loving a good striped oxford - it’s the first thing I reach for when I get dressed. But paired with these unreal acid washed, feed sack & bandana patched jeans? Oof. (In a good way).
That’s it for this week! Thank you again for joining me and as usual, drop a comment if there’s an image you want recreated or an item you want styling inspo for - that’s literally why I’m here! ALSO pleasepleaseplease let me know if you buy something from these, I can’t overstate how happy it makes me to play matchmaker. Love you, thank you, and keep your peepers peeled for tomorrow’s bonus newsletter, too.
Just wanna say thank you for this. Giving me the good ol days of the blogging world and I MISSED IT.
