Hello and happy April!
This week, without realizing it, I went for super wearable looks. Nothing too crazy going on below, just some classic things you could wear a million times over and *gasp!* I’ve included a bit of color!
Below we have the usual trio: a styled looks section, a quick 1-2 punch of looks, and then a smattering of things I like (next week I’ll be mixing it up a little with some new features!). You can shop all the looks by clicking the links below the collages.
Don’t forget to add items to your Ebay watchlist! Though I share the listed price, you will always get a discount from those wonderful sellers.
I’ve been sitting on this blouse for a couple years now (?!) and it needs to be shared and seen and bought and loved. If you’re looking for an elevated work look, a breezy vacation blouse, or a chic little wedding event top - this blouse does triple duty. It is stunning. I found a gorgeous pair of trousers to pair with it (Sant’Angelo makes incredible quality stuff) but this blouse would look just as good with a long linen skirt or just some jeans! And don’t let the photo quality fool you, the belt and shoes are the same tone (which I’m not fanatical about but felt right here) and finished the look of with some brass hair clips (I would only wear one at a time) for a touch of romance.
This is may be my most narcissistic look? Because boom, I’m dressing you almost exactly as I have once dressed. What can I say? I’m consistent! I will always love this style of tennis short and dressing them up all preppy brings me joy. This look is so simple but packs an impact! I 100% will wear my iteration again, so maybe we can be twins!
If you’ve ever seen me at an Object Limited vintage pop-up, you definitely saw me in some form of the above. Jeans, a shirt, oxfords, and a blazer. It’s a combination that can’t miss! But all of these pieces are so special! That olive silk blazer is luxe and good lord is under $20. A steal. I’m loving the resurgence of these kinds of structured tanks, and this one is simply striped and a great foundation piece. Will I ever be over patchwork jeans? Probably not. But you know I love a neutral so these Isabel Marants in black are right up my alley.
I love the woven raffia effect of these Clergeries and it summer-izes what is usually more of a fall/winter shoe. These would also be cute with the first look! Finally, the fanny pack ties in all the colors but is sporty and kind of cheesy in a way that I wholeheartedly love. And it can be a cross-body bag if you don’t want that weight at your waist!
// 1. These cropped pants are my style ideal and I’m still hunting for a pair in my size. The wide flared crop is perfect for showing off your shoes! And the one shoulder tank? Can’t get enough of it. // 2. I was never a dancer but I do really love the ballet aesthetic. Take one satin floral mini dress, add a soft angora wrap sweater and sheer tights and the city is your dance floor! // 3. I went on a real Henri Bendel kick and found this silk tank set for $35!! The RealReal has such gems. I would 100% wear this set with the belt from the very first look. Years ago I saw that color combo and have still not forgotten it, so I’m sharing it with you now. //
From top left to right:
1. Faux vest Byblos jumpsuit, $75. Deeply, deeply enamored of this jumpsuit. Byblos is a great brand and this is so, so chic. It’s so simple! But what an effect! Would look amazing with any of the shoes in this newsletter.
2. Houndstooth footed set, $60. This is deeply weird but also super wearable! First, make sure that rise works for you. Then, just add the black tux jacket from above and either knee-high boots or the black croc loafers from above, and you’re done! alternatively, if you have some clear shoes, this would be the appropriate outfit to debut them.
3. Red net mules, $42. All I can say is that if you’re a size 8.5/9, I am very envious of you. What even are these! They’re unexpected, breezy, a great color, and so modern! Vintage is just the coolest I can’t handle it!
4. Armani Exchange blazer dress, $20. This is a combo of all the best things! A blazer, a mini, linen, and neutral. All you need is bright gold jewelry and you’re done!
5. Linda Allard for Ellen Tracy cable knit turtleneck tunic, $33. Through the duration of this newsletter, please continue to expect off-season items. Good vintage is good vintage and I’m going to share it regardless! Hence, this great tunic. With all the sheer pants and skirts I’m trying to convince you are fabulous, this is a great item to pair them with! This covers your butt, is cozy and cute, and let’s your legs do all the talking.
6. Red short suit, $35. I am always on the lookout for short suits, and this one is perfect, ifIdosaysomyself. The red color is bold and powerful, the shorts are a work-appropriate length (I’ll be styling a pair of these next week so stay tuned if you need the help!), and it makes me feel like I can get shit done.
7. Toit Volant ruffle tank, $22.50. I’m not generally a huge ruffle person, but the back of this tank sold me. Talk about a walking-away look. This would actually be great paired with the short suit above! Work-appropriate from the front, then pop the blazer off and it’s time for happy hour.
8. Louis Feraud striped blouse, $20. This is just a really cute blouse! Sometimes it can be that easy!
9. Ann Taylor vest jumpsuit, $40. After the first newsletter I got a few requests for a larger size black vest jumpsuit, et voila! I really love the wide leg of this one and I’m telling you right now, this will never ever ever go out of style. It’s an LBJ (little black jumpsuit) and it will serve you looks for years to come.
10. St. John knit minidress, $30. St. John is a squeal-if-you-find-it-thrifting brand. The knits are so high quality and it is hard to find it resold for under $100. This is unreal. I usually find separates or kinda dowdy dresses, but this little mini is ready for the modern world! My version of sex appeal is clearly covered up except for one part of the body, and like the sweater tunic above, this one wants your gams to shine!
11. Barney’s peek-a-boo cardigan, $36. This has a single button closure, so when you add your favorite plaid trousers, your abs will give a little show! It’s totally a Tai Frasier in Clueless kinda vibe and I love her love of peekaboo midsection.
12. Striped slinky cardigan, $12. Another great top that is just that - a great top. Could be worn with *litrilly* anything in your closet.
13. Sequin & marabou jacket, $45.50. I’m a total magpie and loooove anything sequined! It’s in my name, Maggie! I can’t fight destiny! This jacket is OTT - like an amped up, campy version of an Upper East Sider and I love it. I would wear it exactly as shown, with a classic pair of jeans. Unzip it, add a white t-shirt, and brunch just got a whole lot more fun.
14. Tan skirt set, $15. Like I’m not going to show you this set that is only $15. Like I would keep this to myself!?
15. Red gingham summer dress, $23. This looks like a Reformation dress but it’s an original and it’s only $23. Big wins on both counts! Bonus points if you wear this dress with the red net flats above.
That’s it for this week! Hope you found some treasures and/or inspiration. And as always, leave comments with questions or styling quandaries!
xx Maggie
Love the commentary as much as the looks! 😄
