Welcome to round two of the newsletter! If you missed yesterday’s, I’ll wait here while you read it first….
….okay welcome back! I’m carrying on with more khaki and have one more really fun outfit for you and then an XL size “Things I Like!” Enjoy!
Obviously this outfit was built around these hilarious pants! For all my espousing of chic sleek sexy, I really appreciate when fashion doesn’t take itself too seriously. I mean, look at these - spread joy to children and adults alike! To give it a little sleekness (I can’t help myself), I would add this butter yellow ribbed cardigan, and then if it gets chilly, throw on this super cute sweater vest. You can also skip the cardigan and just wear the sweater vest, too. No one will stop you but all shall applaud. To maintain some levity, though, I would cinch the waist with this super fun rhinestone belt! This is a total sleeper hit of your closet and can be paired with so much more than you imagine. Lastly, as a nod to the dinos, I’d trot out these lace-up boots (with the pants cuffed obvs) that would do Laura Dern proud.
From top left to right:
1. Black & tan knit striped pants, $27. These are striped and neutral, so of course I’m going to share them! They also seem to sit a little lower, so if high-waisted stuff isn’t your bag - these could be!
2. Brown & cream silk striped slip dress, $21. Ditto the first sentence from #1, because I clearly have a strong idea of what I like! This is so flirty and cute and it even has a little cowl neck which I dislike on my self but LOVE on other people. And it’s $21!!
3. Abstract drop waist floral dress, $36. This print really caught my eye - it reminds me of that old Steven Sprouse/Louis Vuitton collab that was everywhere for a while. This just seems like a high impact, low effort look that’s perfect for summer! Cotton, loose, and graphic.
4. Cream tent dress, $48. I imagine this dress roaming Rome and having a grand ole time of it! It’s sleeveless and swingy to keep you cool in the heat of the day and bonus, it has pockets!
5. Chenille vest & pant set, $4. This is not a drill! This listing has this set marked as corduroy but this is chenille, baby! What a cool textile for a set and the cut is so modern. You’d be the cutest person at any baby shower/birthday party/brunch/room!
6. Gator bag!, $74. You all loved the bags I shared last week, so when I came across this one, I was like, “they’re gonna love this!” That gator is so cool and this bag can be worn cross-body, too.
8. Fringe sleeve top, $27. Simple top, very cool detail. I’m imagining this with some bootcut jeans and a pair of heeled cowboy boots.
9. Red & cream striped crop top, $28. Just a really cute crop top! That’s all!
10. Tan button-front dress, $23. The fabric of this is so unexpected. It’s like, ripstop fabric or something? So it adds a kind of sporty edge to something classically feminine.
11. Taupe skirt with satin waist, $54. This is wackadoo in the absolute best way! I could take or leave the bow but that waist detail is nuts! It’s so cool! I’d lean into the ballet-esque energy of this piece and pair it with #13 and a low chignon.
12. Gold hand pin set, $32. Okay I know these look very old fashioned, but hear me out! How amazing would it be if you added these to a plain t-shirt and then placed them like they were pinching your nipples? OTT? Absolutely. Cheeky? You betcha!
13. Baum und Pferdgarten mesh turtleneck, $30. I mean it’s the best layering piece. Enough visual interest but the print isn’t too distracting. It’s lightweight, it’s great.
14. Intentionally Blank sandals, $50. It’s almost summer! Time to snag some low-heeled, secondhand, comfy yet cute sandals.
15. Rejina Pyo tie-front top, $45. Like I wouldn’t share Rejina Pyo for under $50. Like I wouldn’t!
16. Black suede shorts, $30. I have always wanted to be a person that could pull of suede/leather shorts and you know what I realized? All I have to do is wear them in order to do so. Love the extra wide waistband and the cuffs of this pair, and will keep sharing ones I love so that we can all walk together, thigh by thigh, in our leather shorts.
17. Drop hem ivory pleated skirt, $19. Precious! I know this doesn’t look like much but I have a skirt like this and the weight of the pleated portion hangs and move in a really lovely way. I’ve paired mine with a long tunic, a black bodysuit, and a tied-front top - all of it works!
18. Shoulder pad cardigan, $3. This is a closet MVP. You think it doesn’t look like much but it would be the piece you return to again and again. Honestly would look great with #17. And keep the shoulder pads in!
19. Grey & white striped button down, $8. Yes this is grey and not green! Yes it’s only $8! Yes it will work with everything in your closet!
My little vintage brain is exhausted after the last two newsletters! I’m signing off and marching today - stay safe and have a great weekend! xx Maggie
Thanks for some plus options!
