Greetings from my impromptu hiatus! I know I left in a hurry and gave almost no updates, but that is generally how most of my trips kick off, so at least some things can be counted on. I also know you’re here for vintage but in case you were curious, for three weeks my friend Dana and I traveled to various locales in Kenya and Tanzania, and then finished in Paris. Suffice it to say, it was phenomenal. Here’s one glimpse of what I was up to:
I won’t bore you with more but it was truly so phenomenal that it’s been hard for me to wrap my head around hopping back into the day-to-day. SO, though RGV is back in action, we’re just dipping our toes in the water this week. Next week I’ll be back in full regalia but for now, here are 19 things I like, and I hope you do, too! These are allllll over the place because I have summer fatigue but also it’s still quite hot, so we’re doin’ our best over here.
Anyhow, I’m glad to be back with you and thank you for your patience as I get back into the swing of things! As an aside, I still can’t access Instagram from my phone so expect a little more radio silence there as I suss things out.
Ok, happy shopping!
From top left to right:
1. Armani striped blazer, $73.50. You know there’s got to be some Armani in any of these roundups. This blazer is my platonic and romantic ideal: boxy, double breasted, striped, and oh-so-chic. Would and could legitimately wear it with anything in this list.
2. Cream smocked dress, $20. Rachel Comey, Rhode, and Khaite have all done some fully-smocked dresses but look at this original! It would fit in with Khaite now but this beaut is 1/1000th of the price and pure, creamy perfection.
3. Photo print tube top, $30. This is just so fun and dumb and I love everything about it. Tube tops and trousers are a great transitional outfit, parrots or no.
4. Anne Klein sunglasses, $9.50. Great sunglasses, great designer, great price.
5. Taupe sweater vest, $30. Oof next week I may just do a fully taupe newsletter because I can’t get enough of this weird color. This has excellent broad shoulders and thick knit weight that the Frankie Shop would be lucky to duplicate.
6. Navy satin minidress, $24. This mini? With #1 and #4? You’d be way too cool for me and I’m the one styling it.
7. Abstract b&w dress, $35. We love an easy breezy abstract sundress. We love em.
8. The Limited trench, $75. Talk about Khaite! Or The Row? Or Philo-era Celine? Or 70s Chloé? I just can’t with how chic and modern this trench is! Honestly this is my favorite piece from the whole newsletter so if you buy this, please let me know.
9. Anne Klein pearl lariat, $5. My friend Lauren recently wore a little pearl necklace with her gold chains and it was such a winning combo (shout-out to my other friend Sarah for the assist!) that I’ve found one for you to have your own moment.
10. Tibi vinyl shorts, $45. Three styling ideas for these: with #5 for a slouchy vibe; under #11 with just a bra for a FaShIoN vibe; or with a tight turtleneck and some otk heeled boots and a blazer for a Maggie vibe.
11. Charles Anastase sheer yellow dress, $32. As much as your gal loves a neutral color, there are certain spectral shades that really get to me, and canary yellow is one of them. Plus! As a sheer dress, this has so much versatility! Wear it with the shorts above, or with just a slip dress underneath, or under a button down tunic? Endless, joyous possibilities.
12. Vince tan flats, $44. Martiniano in style, everyday in price.
13. Brown check pants, $25. These are just straight up cute so that’s why they’re here. Imagine these with #5 and #12.
14. Vibrant blue suede trench, $77. THIS. WOW. The color! The pristine condition! I’ve tried writing this sentence several times and the best I can come up with is “wow” so you know this is a special piece.
15. Pinstripe suspender pants, $15. I feel like you all don’t love suspender pants as much as I love suspender pants, which is entirely your prerogative. Just as it is mine to continue to show you cute and affordable ones.
16. Armani marabou purse, $25. More Armani, definitely more flamboyance. There’s also a yellow one here if you want to match your purse to your new dress from #11.
17. Navy knit jumpsuit, $26. Feels like wearing pajamas but doesn’t look it.
18. Raffia rolled hat, $85. I know this is from left field but if this found the right wearer!? Imagine this on someone with a buzzed head and a septum piercing and…maybe lives in Bushwick? (aka anyone younger and cooler than me).
19. Linen miniskirt suit, $30. I love a summer suit and this one has the skirt at the right length without having to head to the tailor - a vintage blessing.
Have a great weekend and I’ll see you this time next week! Thank you as always for being here xx Maggie
