Hi! Happy Friday! I have big things to announce today so strap in!
First, if you follow me on Instagram you’ll see my handle is Face With a View Vintage. But no more! Two weeks from now, all of my platforms will inherit the moniker Really Good Vintage. I’ll keep talking about this on Instagram so it doesn’t come as a shock when the change happens.
Also, with the name change will come a NEW WEBSITE! There will be a huge launch with some of my best designer duds mixed with some everyday goodies. More than 50 pieces will be included in the launch, ranging in size and price so there will be something for everyone! The official launch for the website and vintage drop will be Friday, September 9th.
Prior to those releases, though, will come a paid tier to the newsletter for $5/month! What you get each Friday for free won’t change at all, but if you subscribe you’ll get early access to any vintage drops on the website and an additional newsletter each Saturday which could cover any of the following:
styling videos
extra “things I like” selections
a new “one size fits all” section wherein I find a range of sizes for one specific piece (ie black trousers/micropleat skirts/loafers)
a new “overhaul” section wherein I share a BUNCH of one type of item (ie knit pant sets/suits/long sleeve minidresses)
whatever else my brain wants to share!
The paid tier will kick off next Friday, September 2nd - any and all support is always and forever appreciated!
Finally, I styled some sets for Club Vintage this week in our video series! Click here to see a rhinestone/studded/suede chaps set styled three ways, and click here to see three different sets, three different ways!
The inspo image may not look like much but the best weather of the year is alllllmost here, when combining short shorts with sweaters isn’t insane! I love the juxtaposition of the flowy shorts with the close-cut wool sweater so I’ve found various color iterations of shorts and cuts of sweaters so you can find something that works for you. But if you want to go all in, this Armani short suit would be incredible (especially with the rollneck sweater)!
For *literal* years I searched for my size in these Derek Lam 10 Crosby shorts and lo and behold, I found the vintage version on my beloved ebay and now I’m sharing them with you! Building the oufit from there was pretty simple once I stumbled on this incredible embroidered poet sleeve blouse. Tuck it in (obvs), add some cute little two-tone loafers, and then I would skip all other jewelry aside from handfuls of rings that ~match but don’t match~ (and don’t neglect the pinky finger!).
I’ve been on a real oversized cardigan kick and finding this tan and black one was a delight because what do I love more than an absence of color (lol but really). This could easily be worn right now with just the top (bonus St. John version here), trousers (with really good belt loops), belt, and shoes. But come colder weather, toss on the cardigan and tuck it in! This rad belt looks like business in the front and then has a surprise in the back, so you want to show it off.
This look is fully inspired by one of the looks from the Club Vintage set styling video. There’s something so slouchy and cool - and simple! - about this look but it’s so much greater than the sum of its parts. The slinky taupe pants match the satin Trademark (rip) boots and I would absolutely tuck them in to get a blousy silhouette. Toss on a sweater tunic and an insouciant little belt bag across your chest and you are in BUSINESS baby.
From top left to right:
1. Brown sweater pant set, $33. Montgomery Ward, to boot! Love to find that brand. And the flared pant? Too good. This set is unworn and perfect for upcoming fall. VERY into sets these days and all days because they have the ease of a dress (ie just throw it on) but seem more thoughtful in execution.
2. Silk pant set, $98. Another set! This one a bit more luxe but would take you anywhere you want to go. Imagine not feeling put-together and cool in this? (impossible)
3. Plaid silk vest, $39. Depending on your size, this could be a cool, slouchy top or a smart, tight, layering piece. Either way you can’t go wrong.
4. Sheer gold slip dress, $79. This reminds me of that Kate Moss party look, but with more disco. Requires a coupe of champagne and a dance floor, stat.
5. Striped mini dress, $16.50. Not to reference another celebrity, but this feels very Jean Seberg to me. Wear it now with some maryjane flats or later with sheer black tights and knee-high boots (pixie hair cut optional!).
6. Marabou mules, $59. I’m not not saying these would be amazing with #4.
7. Mohair mutton sleeve sweater, $38. I love how minimal this sweater is, for though I love the aesthetic of a classic Austrain sweater, I’m not one for much decoration, so this hits the spot. Plus it can be worn open as a jacket, so I love that it can do double duty, as well.
8. Calvin Klein Collection beige polo dress, $44.80. Minimal Margot Tenenbaum.
9. Calvin Klein Collection vest, $20. Love the high cut neck of this one! So late 80s.
10. Knit halter maxidress, $27. Check! Out! The! Back! Of! This! Dress!
11. White vest romper, $46. For those still living and loving summer, here’s a precious little vest romper! I like the loose fit of this because the last thing I want when I’m hot is to be wearing tight clothes.
12. 3-piece grid suit, $44. Hark! A blazer, pant, culotte suit! In a great grid print! Would look fab with #9.
13. Taupe linen pant set, $110. Last set of the newsletter! Also prepped and ready for riding out summer. I LOVE the cut of these pants: the buttons, the pleats, the length. All perfection.
So excited for all the changes coming up, and I hope you are, too! Don’t forget next week starts a new paid tier and a week after that is the big website launch & vintage drop! Thank you as always for being here xx Maggie
Exciting news!
