Hello and welcome to week eight of RGV! I can’t believe we’ve been doing this for two months already, thank you so much for being here! Some housekeeping news: I’m starting to sell vintage again, and will be having a story sale on Instagram either Saturday or Sunday, it will be your choice. The items will all be in the same style as these newsletters and it will all be navy and blues and stripes and a 3-piece silk set and trousers and a boiler suit! Pop over and give my Insta a follow if you’re interested!
Anyhow, this has been an absolute horror show of a week so allow me to offer some escapism and let’s get to the vintage. Love you all, hope you’re doing well xx
This week is a little different because as I was perusing the prefall presentations, I came across this little photo that featured this white jacket with black piping. As luck would have it and by absolute happenstance, I had come across a few items the last couple of weeks with the exact same coloration. So! If you want to get a jump on the fashion world, here are some mega cute white pieces with black piping (the overall dress being my fav! but I also really like the blazer. and the dress. and the top!) that could easily take you from summer to prefall to actual fall.
This look started with this plaid linen skirt that I featured on Instagram a couple weeks ago and couldn’t stop thinking about! I’ve been really enamored with these full midiskirts and I think it’s because they can be styled so many unexpected ways (maybe I’ll use this next week for “1 piece, 3 ways”?). For this round I leaned into traditional femininity and paired this fab cropped linen top with braided trim. I love that the skirt has a cummerbund-style waist and this linen top is almost blazer-like, but they’re both more romantic than traditional masculine-wear. To top it off, I found this incredible leather net bag (!!!!) that clearly holds all your apples from apple picking and some chic and easy leather Mary Janes to keep with the romance but also keep you comfortable.
You know I love a monochrome outfit, and I especially love that these two pieces are both silk navy but totally different textiles, adding a nice level of thoughtfulness. I went summery (instead of my usual black accessory go-tos) and thought this bone color would be a nice way to help the navy pop! The Coach belt and pouch are subtle and chic and you know I love a a belt bag. Then it seemed only fitting to pair the bone accessories with bone shoes but made of different textiles, much like the two navy pieces. Thoughtful! But simple!
I have been looking for these Yigal Azrouël pants for myself since I first saw them (these are too small for me so you get to benefit)! I LOVE the contrasting hem and would wear them a little lower on my hips and megacuffed like this. Letting the pants shine, I would add this silk mock neck top (click the link! the listing has a video and you can see how truly special it is!) and a simple wrist watch. I love the idea of playing off the masculinity of the trousers with some ballet-inspired lace-up flats and then because NYC is still flirting with the 50s, I would throw on this eternally classic Dior sweater (tucked in, of course)!
Top left to right:
1. Cream suit with car wash skirt, $135. Ok this is more expensive than I usually share on here but WOW. You know how much I love a carwash hem skirt but this is a whole ass suit!! I really want some fabulous bride to sashay down the aisle in this beautiful thing!!
2. Floral flared pants, $18. These are just terribly, horribly cute. The little flowers are a great print for a minimalist like me but could just as easily blend into any maximalists wardrobe! Would be just as cute with a flimsy grey tee as an orange & yellow floral top!
3. Floral Jones NY blazer, $25. Really leaning into the cuteness right off the bat. But hello! Look at how cute this is! This really is like the most grown-up version of Limited Too I’ve seen, and I love it. Like the pants, this can be worked any which way and all of them would be great.
4. Sage silk Express pants, $29. Eek! These are the same pants as here but in a gorgeous sage green, perfect for spring and summer. If you're feeling suit-y, there’s a matching blazer available here, too!
5. Linen trousers, $31. The belt loops, the pockets, the slouchiness, the price! - the perfect summer trouser.
6. Gold nautilus bag, $70. Like, whoa. I’ve never seen a bag like this and it is phenomenal and such a conversation-starter! For summer weddings, summer cookouts, summer dates, summer vacations, I honestly may scoop this up because, again - whoa.
7. Salmon silk suit, $51. You know I’ll always share a suit, especially a silk one! Salmon looks good on almost any skin tone and this would look especially great with #8.
8. Boxy deep V top, $36. A total classic! Won’t break the bank and will pay you back in dividends. I really love the deep cut of the front and would wear this all day everyday with some light denim and black slides.
9. Anne Klein tent minidress, $25. I think I’ve mentioned before that this is my favorite silhouette on me - all legs, baby! Imagine this with tan gams, some strappy sandals, and the nautilus bag? With that twirly skirt?? Wait maybe I should snag this one, too…
10. Floral rayon set, $22. Definitely click the link because this photo doesn’t do it justice, but this is just a sweet, easy-to-wear set that could just as easily be mixed and matched with a multitude of other things hanging in your closet.
11. Beige silk shirt dress, $27. Like a good silk suit, I’ll always share a good silk shirtdress! It’s very Cos without the price tag.
12. Silk electric blue two-tone skirt, $18. Yowza what a showstopper! My friend’s power color is electric blue and let me tell you it is powerful. And the little sliver of light blue at the side slit? Total, absolute magic.
13. Mother of pearl checkered bag, $18. This is not a drill! This is, in fact, a mother of pearl clutch in a modern pattern for under $20!
14. YSL slit front tee, $33. I know this doesn’t look like much but wait! I love that the slit at the chest shows just the slightest bit of skin so you can have sexiness and intrigue in something as casual as a t-shirt. Classics with a twist! My favorite way to dress.
15. Button-side pants, $20. Sometimes a really good pair of pants is just that: really good.
Thank you for joining me this week! Have a great weekend and let me know 1. if you’d like to see something specific styled in the newsletter and 2. if you buy something!
xx Maggie
