Here we go again! More vintage for your eyeballs to savor on a lovely Saturday afternoon. Maybe you’re still in bed, maybe you’re mid-boozy brunch, maybe you’re not lazy like I am and have already done something with your day! Regardless, couldn’t we all use some chic secondhand in our lives? Below are 15 items I love that couldn’t fit in yesterday’s newsletter because I have no concept of spatial design reasoning.
Links plus many words are below the collage - happy shopping!
From top left to right:
Asymmetric skirt, $72. The depths of sadness I reached when I saw this skirt was too small for me cannot be overstated. That button detail! It’s too much! And the swingy fabrication is sublime. I’d wear this with a white tank like the model or imagine it with a tight black turtleneck and boots. If you don’t follow Barnaby Jack on Insta, make sure to do so here - she always has cool, modern vintage.
Red silk shirtdress, $21. Here I am trying to dress you like me again, but the heart wants what it wants! And my heart always wants a red shirtdress!
Armani tank, $30. Just a really great tank in a great fabric by a great designer with great sexy straps.
Iridescent sequin cardigan, $45. I also own this sweater (does the narcissism know no bounds?!) and please let me assure you it is worth every penny of $45. It’s a great weight, slightly cropped, and when low dinner lights hit the sequins? Absolute magic. I felt so special in this and who doesn’t love that feeling?
No. 6 gold pants, $40. Eep! I know metallic gold pants seem like a frivolous purchase but imagine them like this: with a crisp white button down - untucked - black patent tuxedo shoes, and a black blazer for when it gets cold? Divine.
Luciano Tempesta trapeze vest dress, $65. A great find, if I do say so myself! I know it doesn’t look like much, but it’s hard to find a vintage vest dress that isn’t fitted or doesn’t have really low arm holes. This dress is swingy and modern, and if you want to amp up the sexy factor, I would suggest hemming it a few inches. With Grecian sandals in summer or a sheer turtleneck in the fall - this is a fab little year-round dress!
Silk contrast stitch blouse, $17. My appreciation for a contrast stitch is unwavering. A simple black silk button down is elevated so simply but so satisfyingly! I would wear this with some bike shorts or a see-through cream lace skirt - and best of all? This is 50in bust, so it fits a wide range of bodies!
Leather prep blazer, $26. Ok good god. Look at this! Rowing Blazers wishes it could! This is some high-end, boxy, academy, leather realness and it is only $26. If you don’t mind awestruck people drooling all over you, then do yourself a favor and buy this blazer.
Vinyl coatdress, $60. With the tags still on it, thankyouverymuch! This is so Audrey Hepburn from Two For the Road and that is never a bad thing.
Crochet tank, $32.50. I put this one to a vote on Instagram stories and people loved it! So I’m resharing it here so you can visit it regularly or make it your own.
Navy sailor pants, $25. Classics are classics for a reason! Would be amazing with either of the tanks in this newsletter or maybe even the sequin cardigan??
Red silk blazer, $20. Having worked in vintage for a long time, I can tell from photos which silks are the ~good~ silks, and this is a good silk. This one is more fall/winter-weight and is almost velvety to the touch. Sumptuous is the word. And in a bold color and my favorite blazer shape! This one’s one you would have forever.
Cream silk Louis Feraud dress, $40. Oohlala should I make another movie reference? This is Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct (seriously have you seen this recently? Her wardrobe is goooooood). This is also Bette Midler at the end of First Wives Club. Sexy ladies bringing men to their knees? How could you not want to channel that?
Jil Sander knit tunic, $25. Jil Sander is a designer I’ve been returning to often because the pieces are a masterclass in deceptive simplicity. This knit tunic doesn’t look very special, right? But imagine it with navy pants (with a sharp crease), a pair of white loafers, and a thin gold bangle pulled up on your forearm. I’d want to know more about the person wearing that!
Giorgio Armani skirt set, $52. Late 80s does 70s, amiright? Nothing ever wrong with a vest/skirt set. This look feels like it needs a buzzing bullpen at The New York Times. You get shit done when you wear this!
And that’s that! Lemme know your favs in the comments and have a great weekend!
Love the gold pants!!
